Frequently asked questions

What type of counselling do you offer?

The modalities that I have studied are; Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt therapy. As an Integrative counsellor this means that I am able to tailor the support to meet your individual needs rather than having to stick to one therapeutic model.

The BACP has a very useful page which gives a brief outline of each of the different therapeutic modalities so that you can explore and find the best "therapeutic fit" for you.

How can counselling help me?

Counselling provides the conditions for the you to explore yourself, your experiences (past, present and future) and to support you to identify and hopefully remove any obstacles that might be stopping you from living your life to the fullest. The conditions provided through counselling are both physical and emotional. Physical in the sense of providing a private and confidential time and space (either face to face/online/telephone). Emotional in that the therapeutic relationship is of paramount importance - for counselling to be effective this relationship is built on; honesty, trust, empathy, equality, congruence, acceptance and which is free from judgements from either party.

Do Counsellors have to adhere to any guidelines or professional standards?

Absolutely! I am a member of the  British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) which has an Ethical Framework that set the standards for what an individual should expect to receive from counselling. It also provides information and guidance for counsellors on good practice and ethics such as personal moral qualities, values, and principles that we commit to adhering to each year we renew our membership. I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Do you work internationally?

No, I currently am only supporting people within the United Kingdom.

What ages do you support?

As I am working remotely, I am currently able to offer support  to Adults aged 18yrs and over.

What is your confidentiality policy?

You can find all of my policies and procedures including the confidentiality policy here

How much are the sessions and how many will I need?

I offer an initial free nonobligatory 30 minute telephone consultation session for us to explore what you would like to get out of counselling and whether I may be a good fit to help support you with this.

If you decide that you would then like to go ahead with counselling then my sessions are £50 for 50 minutes payable at the time of booking.

There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions, and at the end of each session we would review the progress made and discuss next steps. If you would like any more information on this please do not hesitate to contact me.
